A project born in January 2022 that engaged the artist for over sixteen months.
This project gave birth to the exhibit Le Chapiteau des Merveilles : 20 photo prints, a video and a story book that show the history of the meeting between the photographer Sergio Sechi and the Rony Roller Circus.
An encounter born by chance and driven by that search for meaningful photo shoots mixed with a deep sense of respect for places and people , which characterizes the work of the best photographers.
After a first photo taken outside the circus tent, which was supposed to tell the story of the roman suburb Primavalle with its traces of art , Sergio Sechi was invited to enter.
That entrance was a reversal of perceptions for him , a push behind the scenes with the discovery of a fascinating , difficult , often too superficially criticized , world.
Thus began a magnetic journey that the photographer faithfully reports in his shoots, giving life to a narration that, while telling the truth , it distances itself from reportage, assuming dreamlike hues to tell about a world that coexists within ours , coloring itself with poetry.
Paradoxically , sometimes it's the dimension of the fairy tale that most incisively manages to unhinge prejudices and spontaneously tell forgotten , and perhaps , in some cases , uncomfortable truths.
The entire project takes on the appearance of a story , where the photographer's camera doesn't just stop in front of the enchantment of a suspended trapeze in the air between the smokes and lights of a circus show , but it chooses to go further by following the artists in the backstage , portraying them in everyday life moments , during the show preparations and as they interact with the animals.
What emerges, in all this, is a touching love story between humans and animals circus performers , a story that undermines prejudices and shows the difficulties, the moments of joy and sharing , which binds all the members of the circus family.

La Vera Storia del Rony Roller Circus
Un progetto nato nel gennaio 2022 che ha impegnato l’artista per oltre 16 mesi, quello che ha dato vita alla mostra Le Chapiteau des Merveilles: 20 stampe fotografiche, un video e uno story book raccontano l’incontro tra il fotografo Sergio Sechi e il Rony Roller Circus.
Un incontro nato per caso e mosso da quell’andare in cerca di scatti significativi, misto a un profondo senso del rispetto per luoghi e persone, che caratterizza il lavoro dei migliori fotografi.
Dopo un primo scatto fatto all’esterno del tendone, che doveva raccontare il territorio della periferia romana di Primavalle con le sue tracce di arte, Sergio Sechi è stato invitato ad entrare. Quell’ingresso è stato per lui un ribaltamento di percezioni, uno spingersi dietro le quinte e scoprire un mondo affascinante, difficile, troppo spesso superficialmente criticato.
Ha avuto inizio così un viaggio magnetico che il fotografo riporta con fedeltà nei suoi scatti, dando vita a una narrazione che pur raccontando il vero, si allontana dal reportage, prendendo tinte oniriche per raccontare un mondo che convive all’interno del nostro, colorandosi di poesia.
A volte, paradossalmente, è proprio la dimensione della fiaba quella che in modo più incisivo riesce a scardinare pregiudizi e a raccontare con naturalezza verità̀ dimenticate e forse in alcuni casi scomode.
L’intero progetto prende le sembianze di un racconto, dove la camera del fotografo non si ferma solo davanti all’incanto di un trapezio sospeso nel vuoto tra i fumi e le luci di uno spettacolo circense, ma sceglie di spingersi oltre e seguire gli artisti nei backstage, ritrarli nei momenti di quotidianità̀, nei preparativi, nel rapporto con gli animali.
Ne emerge una toccante storia d’amore tra circensi umani e circensi animali, una storia che scardina pregiudizi e mostra le difficoltà e i momenti di gioia e condivisione che legano tutti i componenti della famiglia del circo.
